“Thank you very much for the screening weekend. It was a worthwhile experiment and I plan to do it again…by investing in especially the education and knowledge of our players we achieve a more sophisticated and self-correcting athlete…my assumption is that this will translate in the long run to better performances.”

Program History

As sport training has become more sophisticated and comprehensive at all levels, so too has the understanding that athletes and teams are best served by an “integrated approach” to optimal performance. As a professional not-for-profit society comprised of sport medical and science practitioners in British Columbia, SportMedBC offered built-in access to many of the best professionals in the fields of sport medicine, sport science and sport training.

Throughout its 25-year history, SportMedBC has provided coordinated services to interested athletes and teams, but it was in the mid-1990s when the demand began to justify formal programming protocols and delivery. SportMedBC began to work directly with organizations such as the Sport Branch of the Government of British Columbia (Team BC), national sport federations (through Sport Canada), provincial associations and multi-sport organizations such as PacificSport.

SportMed Performance programs and services are led by Olympians for Olympians and other performance athletes and are designed to provide access to the best professional services available in Canada.
