Nordic Walking Programs

The Vancouver Sun Run is proud to be the first Canadian road race to include Nordic Walking. These clinics start the week of January 19th and continue for 13 weeks leading up to the Vancouver Sun Run:

UPDATE   We are pleased to be able to offer Nordic Walking participants in this year's Sun Run InTraining program the option to purchase a pair of Exel Trainer poles at a special Sun Run price of $80 (retail value is $120). Representatives from Alliance Athletics will be on-site at the first clinic to help interested participants fit and purchase poles. Of course, participants are also welcome to bring their own poles to use throughout the clinic.

A fantastic cardiovascular activity that works your entire body; Nordic Walking originated in Finland as a summer cross-training activity for skiers. It provides you with all of the benefits of cross-country skiing only without the snow. Using specifically designed poles for Nordic walking that are similar to those used for cross-country skiing, Nordic walkers stride along trails and roads while using a technique that engages the upper body and back as well as the lower portion of the body.
