Our RunWalk Leaders

SportMed RunWalk

Our Leaders

SportMed RunWalk programs are led by an enthusiastic and dedicated team of SportMedBC staff- Lynn Kanuka, Susan Nguyen, and Shannon McBurney. Additionally, our staff are assisted by area coordinators who oversee the implementation of InTraining clinics - Nancy Coles (Richmond/Delta/White Rock), Rainy Kent (Burnaby), Charlene Wharton (Vancouver), Kurt Zaporozan (Coquitlam, New West), Femina Fidai (North Shore), Deanna McLeod (Fraser Valley), Natascha Koat (Langley), Anjulie Latta (Vancouver).

The SportMed RunWalk Program has over 1000 volunteer leaders associated with our clinics from year to year. Without these leaders, our Sun Run InTraining clinics and other programs would not be possible.

Meet some of our SportMed RunWalk leaders. These individuals have all received recognition as leaders who have demonstrated enthusiam, dedication and support beyond expectations:

Sun Run InTraining Leader of the Year 2009
Natascha Koat, Guildford

__________________________________________________

Natasha goes above and beyond as our clinic coordinator! She is very organized and prepared! She always has a full informative program for us each week. She consistently involves all the leaders so we get exposed to many perspectives, styles and we learn about many different experiences.

Natasha is kind and patient! She has been running with my Learn

to Run 'Slow' group and she stays with the runners at the back encouraging them and making them laugh! Natasha is in great shape and is a natural runner but she never makes any of us feel slow or less fit! Instead, Natasha makes you feel proud of yourself that you are doing the program and getting stronger week by week.

Sun Run InTraining Leader of the Year Award

The Sun Run InTraining Leader of the Year award was named in honor of the late Jim Swan, a dedicated and inspirational leader with the Mission Clinic. Jim along with other members of his family came to the InTraining Program initially as participants and subsequently out of his desire to help others improve their fitness and commitment to health, became a leader.

Participants recall that Jim had a “warm touch, and that he genuinely cared about you”. He inspired so many people through his involvement with InTraining.
